Change Management and Transformation

We have all heard that eighty percent of all change management programmes fail to achieve their objectives. You will know many of the reasons for this. Personal Impact! Limited believes that it is not the mechanics of managing the change (the Prince Methodology, The MS Project Plan etc.) that are the reasons for its failure. The reasons for change failure can be seen as

  • A lack of clarity in what is trying to be achieved – Why this? Why now?
  • A lack of personal engagement with the wider organisation to ignite passion and involvement in the change
  • A lack of a creative space into which ideas, experience and excitement can be generated to support the change and embed it
  • A lack of a focus on the present reality of the situation as the change unfolds
  • A lack of an appropriate change leadership style for the change being implemented

We believe that these factors are true at an organisational, team and individual level.

Once these are addressed then the processes of winning hearts and minds, planning, implementing and making the change stick can be appropriately designed.

We believe in the paradoxical theory of change which stresses that by a conscious awareness and focus on the present one cannot but avoid changing. Too often change management is seen as a series of sequential events that once put in motion should not be changed!
